Jo woke this morning to a room full of balloons and a voucher from her fellow volunteers entitling her to a pair of tailored made African trousers.
We headed to Malota on our bicycles; we think we were a rare sight to the locals as they watched a herd of us whizz by.
SKIP icebreakers were out in full force today, Kwah and "I take your teeth" were favourites. Games aside, we managed to do our research with more confidence than yesterday. We used varied teaching methods and rearranged our structure which appeared to work. The focus groups were facilitated brilliantly and the children contributed some valuable views and opinions on the English language. Our HIV questionnaires were answered with more control and order than yesterday again to the help of the interpreters.
Clement, the head'rasta', gave us a privileged glimpse of his 5 year old treasured dreadlocks.
We cycled our way to Maramba Market - thanks to our trusty youthful Dutch tour guide Jeff - to buy printed material to be made into trousers. We will soon look like proper locals. Heading out this evening to continue the birthday celebrations.
